The only thing you can do now is get your firmware flashed.
You dont have to buy a kit, you could just visit a Nokia Center.

Proof of purchase is required.

Hi guys ,
I'm a bit new to this . I have a Nokia 6610i registered with O2 in the Uk.
For some reason it always tells me that the sim is unregistered ......BUT IT IS !!!!.....I've been told that if I get the phone unlocked this will sort my problem. I need to use an o2 sim and a telefonica sim in Spain. The phone was given to me as a gift and have no idea how to resolve this problem. Can anyone help me with this ? It's blocked so its useless now, unblocking it (as opposed to unlocking which won't help) is illegal, not supported by these forums and can fetch you 5 years in prison.

I doubt there will be a solution for the Nokia 6630 before the new year, although I would love for someone to prove me wrong. The usual scenario with a changed algo/asic is direct unlock solution only first then, and code calc a month or so later. I am keeping in touch with the people who I believe will be the first with a solution (not mentioning any names of course) and will be sure to post on here as soon as I know more :D

I believe that if you incorrectly enter 5 unlock codes the phone can no longer be unlocked by using unlock codes, not sure though. But that's what I hear.

This phone is having a hard time. It gives a "Code Error!" message for this code 7 string.

I re-tried the code 1 string you gave earlier and it was accepted without error, but the phone still complains "SIM card not valid". This phone has never been used on any network -- could that be a factor?

When you say it accepts the first code without error what exactly do you mean? Does a message display after the code or does it just revert back to 'Insert Sim card'?

When I type in the code 1, it reverts to the Insert Sim card message. When I type in the code 7, it displays the error "Code Error" then reverts back to the Insert Sim Card.

If the device is locked (from too many error tries) and cannot be unlocked by codes, would it give me some indication to that effect?

I pasted the ones i wanted to take the effort to look up, if any1 else wants anymore codes paste the imei, provider and make sure that if the fon is not dct4 that you mention what exactly it is, for those that i did, remember these are not guranteed to work, for my 6620 it worked on the first one so yeah, GOOD LUCK EVERY1.

hey all
im a mac guy, so i'm sorta screwed with unlocking my 6230b (RH-28) cos the nokiafree online generator doesn't work :D
i tried codes 1 and 7 and they didn't work, not gonna risk it anymore so i figure il ask for help.
i just bought it from my local cingular store, it has all the cingular brandings on it, etc.

themacace, i don't think there are any gurantees, all ppl do is plug in the numbers and the codes pop out, i'll go ahead and post what the program pops out but there are no gurantees, if this keeps failing with you then maybe you do need a hard unlock.

Yes you will have to unlock it by cable. You'd probably be better off paying someone to unlock it by cable, since these unlock cables can cost hundreds of dollars, and the clips themselves about $50. This happened to me also before and I paid like $20 to get it done.

Ok, maybe I screwed up my phone, but here is what I did:

Before I tried the code posted by "dinkai", I actually tried several codes that were posted here for same model (Nokia 6620) w/AT&T, but no luck at all, always getting a "Code Error" response. But I am pretty sure that I did not enter any code twice.

Then, I tried the above codes posted by "dinkai", the first 6 codes did not do anything at all, after I enterted them one by one (from +1 to +6), the phone just returned to its "insert SIM card" message. And I did try to use a different provider's SIM card to test them and it did not work. When I tried the last code (+7), the phone just returned "Code Error" message again.

Now, what do I do? Can any one please help? I read some of your posts that it seems like we only have 5 tries to enter the unlock code? Is this true? Does that mean I already failed my 5 tries and I will need a hard unlock now?

Please help. Thank you so much.

I think I did screw up my phone by entering too many wrong codes. I did go to http://unlock.nokiafree.org/download.php to download the NokiaFREE unlock calculator and tried it on my other Nokia 6620 (same provider). And it works successfully on the 1st code I tried.

But I am getting a set of different code other than the ones posted by "dinkai" as follow:

My guess is that he selected "DCT 4 (expert only)" instead of "6620" for the 2nd option (for the phone model). If I chose that, then I got the same result as he did. But the successful try I did was using "6620" for that 2nd option. Just an FYI.

Now, how can I get my phone unlocked properly? Using a cable? How? Can someone please give me a little bit more information on this? Thanks!

Yes you will have to unlock it by cable. You'd probably be better off paying someone to unlock it by cable, since these unlock cables can cost hundreds of dollars, and the clips themselves about $50. This happened to me also before and I paid like $20 to get it done.

where can i go to get my phone unlock in the usa?

any phone provider? like say... t-mobile?

by the way my phones a 9500 hundred from the philippines..

would they still help me unlock it?

We thought to start an unlocking post here in the Nokia forums. Simply post your Provider name (and country), IMEI, and Phone Model. An unlock code will be posted if it's possible in the thread.

Since this service is FREE, please do not ask repeatedly or PM the mods with questions. They will ignore you :)

Here is how to enter your code once you have it:

Power off phone and REMOVE SIM
Power phone back on without sim
Push #
Push * key 3 times (you will see p)
Push * key 4 times (you will see w)
Push * key 2 times (you will see a +)
Enter the 15 digit code
Push the * ket 2 times (you will see +)
Type the lock digit (this will typically be 7)
Push #
That's it - The phone should display "Phone restrictions off"

NOTE: If the code does not work properly the first time (and you are 100% sure you enterd it correctly) - DO NOT re-enter the same code!!!! Please post your results. We assume absolutely NO responsibility if anything goes amiss.

It depends...most of the big carriers won't help you out unless you're their customer, even then sometimes they won't help. You'd be better off finding a big independent cellphone store, where you'd be more likely to find a professional unlocker. In the Philippines, I'm sure you'd be able to find them easily, as it is a cellphone-obsessed country. My uncle had said to get it unlocked is almost the same price as a cellphone there, though I'm not sure since we never did get a chance to find an unlocker; non of the stores at SM unlocked, but maybe you'll have better luck.

Are you sure it's a 3320? Because that's a TDMA phone, and that can't be unlocked using a GSM-related website.

No you don't have to enter all of them...usually, it's either the last one or the first one. Do you know of any professional unlockers, like maybe at a shopping center or something? They're usually cheaper than $79...

I tried 3 times to unlock my Nokia 6630 using the calculator and DC5 choosed , but no luck. I was getting a message that the code is wrong.
Now I tried the "NokiaFREE Unlock Codes Calculator v3.10" client, and I saw that 6630 is in the list, I choosed it and input my IMEI and the Network company, I entered the first Code that I recieved from this client, but this time no "wrong" or "success" message appeared after I entered the 1st. Code, I was hoping that the code was right , I inserted a sim card from other company but the phone didn't accept it...
Now the question is : Does that mean that I have now only one Try ? Was that code wrong ? If yes, why didn't the "Code Wrong" message appear like after the first 3 Codes I entered before ?
Should I stop trying since I have only last Try ? Or do I still have 2 Tries ?

Any idea or comment plz ?

I don't know about how many tries you have left.. but currently there are no working unlockers for the 6630.. I've tried twice already.. the first and the last.. but with no success.. guess we'll just have to wait til someone comes up with the unlock codes..

The only thing you can do now is bring it to an unlocking store and get it flashed or you could try bringing it in to a Nokia store, but don't tell them you tried to unlock it, just tell them it stop working......

I have noticed a number of incorrect codes being posted on the forum of late. Might I suggest that certain people try a little research before posting codes :D

Oh, and one other thing - CODES CANNOT, I REPEAT CANNOT BE CALCULATED FOR THE NOKIA 6630 USING EXISTING CALCS. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT ASIC OR BOX SERIAL IS USED, THEY HAVE ALL BEEN TRIED AND NONE GENERATE WORKING CODES FOR THE 6630. THE NOKIA 6630 IS EITHER BB5 (DCT-5) OR A NEW ASIC TYPE!!!
