Kamusta. Um, well the 7610 being Symbian it should use asic 5 codes to unlock it, however edsailormoon (pinoy as well! :D) managed to unlock his/hers using asic 7. However he/she said something about using the key code 32779, and I just got confused because usually it's 33820, and well yeah, to play it safe I'd rather not put codes kasi I'm not really sure of them :S. 'Code error' means you have entered the code in incorrectly in some way (wrong details, wrong syntax, etc.)
'Not allowed' means you have entered the code correct but the code isn't allowed to execute because you have used up all your 5 tries.

Your only solution is cable unlock.

No, they don't and I haven't heard of it being in the public domain - I think it's still commercial sector, so even if you find it, expect to pay [lots].

I hear this is an alternate way of generating them, and it *may* work, but there are known problems with unlocking 6620s which people haven't fully gotten to the bottom of yet. If you can hold off for a while, I would - just make sure you retain some of your 5 unlock attempts. Also, check your IMEI, phone model number and network provider are correctly listed.

:) Yeah, it was the asking of the 6620 unlock codes, which use totally different sums! I worked it out how to get them (in my head!) something to do with getting the asic 2 codes, and the adding and subtracting different numbers :). It's too laborious however, and atm I don't have time! :D

Hey. Yeah, the 6620 uses some kind of different code, so it's not asic 5, something similar to asic 2 however. I know how to work them out, but it's too labourious as I have to manually do them :S.

If you lock the phone it won't do anything, just when you do get the correct code, it'll say 'cannot undo restriction'.

6620 isn't even ASIC type 2, so I guess you just wasted most of your tries. I would generate a code for you, but as you're on your last try I would sooner you paid someone to ensure it was right for you.

So, I entered the code and then, once again, I didnt get any confirmation nor error message. So, I powered off and put my Cingular SIM card in and it read 'invalid sim card'

So, it seems as though there must be something else to this phone? You know others that may be able to help? This phone isnt that uncommon is it?

It's removing the SP (service provider) locks on Nokia phones. It's totally legal and it's what a lot of networks do to their phones to prevent them being used on other networks, except that most networks charge £35 to remove the locks for you. It's just being done free here.

That doesn't seem like the coolest thing to do. There is nothing wrong with the phone, except for what you have chosen to do to it. As it has been said in this thread, they hold no responsibility over the results. You should take responsibility over the results- not put it back on AT&T. They will have to sell that phone as refurbished if you send it back, not to mention the shipping fees that they have and will incur.

Well then, maybe you have stronger principles than me (and a lot of others by the looks of it) but these major phone networks/companies make enough from people anyway that they can swallow a bit when it comes to it. Frankly, they shouldn't lock them in the first place, and as Sid said, in Australia (contract phones) they don't.

But back to your point about not making someone else pay for your actions... so are you telling me you own no form of insurance whatsoever, on anything? No household, car, accidently damage on laptop/computer, etc. at all? Isn't that making someone (read, insurance companies) pay for your ineptitude or some thing/reason to do with you?

No, let me tell you something, the people who get the returns policies taken away (and it's the first I ever heard of it...) is Joe Idiot who takes his phone back (and this is a true story more than once) because he dropped it and cracked the LCD, or scratched the cover - it is not because someone like me (who I consider to have a brain) attempted to unlock the phone and couldn't do it - and most of all, I keep the phone anyway, I just like the choice and so I unlocked my 6230, 3 months after I got it despite having no reason to need to. If someone can't unlock it and then makes their returns reason 'the phone is not suitable to my needs' then tell me, is that phone suitable to their needs? Should they not be allowed to use a dual-sim card holder? Should the consumer who forked out not have the choice of this? The answer is yes, they should always have the choice, and the only reason you don't get the choice is corporate greed, so yeah, ultimately they can swallow a few quid in their quest for making money, but I won't support it, and if it gets in my way, then I'll do my utmost to fix it.

And finally, yes we could go 'on and on', but as your argument isn't watertight (cos I reckon you hold some insurance policy) I don't see how you can comeback at me.

Following DEViANT's advise, I payed for a professional, and he couldn't unlock my phone on the first try. I've already used up all of my 5 chances at this point, but just out of curiousity I tried all of the codes that were suggested by that professional anyway.
The phone never said "cannot undo restriction" as suggested by DEViANT, so I assume that all of the codes I tried were incorrect. The phone either displayed "Code error" and then "Insert SIM card", or simply "Insert SIM card" without any error message.
Here I'm going to list the codes tested on my phone together with the phone's response. Since I cannot unlock by code any more, my point in doing this is, I guess, to provide you guys a sample of what didn't work (as there still seems to be no common recipe for 6620). I hope this is going to be useful.

I got a code generator from "nokiafree.org" After applying the code, the phone displayed "sim restriction off". However, when I put in at&t sim card, the phone saids sim card not accepted. After a few more tries, I discovered the following:

Following DEViANT's advise, I payed for a professional, and he couldn't unlock my phone on the first try. I've already used up all of my 5 chances at this point, but just out of curiousity I tried all of the codes that were suggested by that professional anyway.
The phone never said "cannot undo restriction" as suggested by DEViANT, so I assume that all of the codes I tried were incorrect. The phone either displayed "Code error" and then "Insert SIM card", or simply "Insert SIM card" without any error message.
Here I'm going to list the codes tested on my phone together with the phone's response. Since I cannot unlock by code any more, my point in doing this is, I guess, to provide you guys a sample of what didn't work (as there still seems to be no common recipe for 6620). I hope this is going to be useful.

alot of the newer phones you need to use Asic 5 or Asic 6 not the old Asic 2 perhaps thats why you got bad codes.

Hi lightdawg555, I've tried the 1st and the last of your suggestions, and it seems that they're not the right ones. But thanks anyway, I appreciate your time and kindness.

I searched through this thread, and found total of 30 guys (incl. me) who wanted to unlock 6620.
16 received some suggestions, and only 10 reposted the results. Out of this 10, only 5 claimed success.

Of these 5, 4 were helped by ozziegn's method (see http://forums.mobileburn.com/showpost.php?p=40868&postcount=1119) which is based on modified ASIC2 logic. The remaining one said that he was successful using "smart dct4 calc" software, but he didn't post which ASIC he used and if he had to use some additional work on his side.
Nobody claimed that either Type5 or Type2 worked without any modification, but it might be that the last guy I mentioned above was this case.
It might also be that those who didn't repost the results did have success and PMed to the helpers or something, so it might be that the success rate might be a bit higher.

The following is the revised list of codes tested on my phone.

I recall when the 3650 came out no one could unlock the att verison until someone finally cracked it some months later. I can only assume this is the case with the 6620 sorry my codes didnt work. I believe after 5 unsuccessfull tires even if you have the correct code you can not remote unlock the phone. You most likely will have to have it cable unlocked.

Lightdawg555, you are using the same code generator as me and it has bugs, so be careful how you use it, I don't think I've had a successful unlock with it yet.

Use code 7. New provider or ESN isn't needed to calculate the codes, and bear in mind that your new network must support the GSM band support by your phone. Let me know if it works, to be honest I'm pretty confident it will.
