You'll have to bring it to an unlocking store/shop now it will cost about $20 to get unlocked... You'll have to change your user name now.......

No the DKU wont work and it costs 100's to buy the h/w & s/w for unlocking.....

Bring it somewhere to get it unlocked for about $20 ...

There is no point in giving you an unlock code if you "forgot" your security code !

Thanks the first code worked! :p (I assume) The phone gave the message, "Phone restrictions Off" with a big "check" symbol. If it was already unlocked, would I have gotten a different message?

BTW, I am not trying to install another carriers' SIM, rather, I got the phone to replace my wife's broken phone and even though the replacement phone was a Cingular phone (purchased used on eBay), Cingular has different phone ESN's and IMEI for different geographic regions. The phone worked sometimes before unlocking it, so only time will tell if this fixed it. I assume (hope) that it did and that Cingular's "Regional Scheme" is a form of locking.

If anyone is knowledgeable about how Cingular implements their regional locking, and whether unlocking the phone will fix this let me know. It would be useful for anyone else buying a phone on eBay for Cingular as well. I haven't been able to find any info on this anywhere on the web.

A blocked,barried or black listed phone is a phone that has been reported stolen or lost to it's network.

Here is a perfect example of this, I lost a Nokia 3100 on the the seat of the Luas (http://www.luas.ie/index.asp) a few weeks ago, so a few minutes later I rang my 3100 from a 5140 I had with me and a drug addict answered the phone :mad: (he must of seen it on the seat as I got up) and he wanted €20 for the phone, so I said no problem I'll give you €100 I just want to get my numbers back (I was going to kick the sh1te out of him), but he never showed up to meet me :mad: ... So I rang my network "Meteor" and told them that I lost my phone on the Luas so they blocked the phone and the sim card, 2 hours later I went into my nearest Meteor store and got my sim card number back :) , but no phone as I wasn't insured, ah well...

There are ways of chaging IMEI numbers but this is illegal and if you get caught you can get 5 years in prision.

Don't try codes 5 times just try 4 times, how many have you tried and which codes where they ?

You can't unlock it with a DKU cable, bring it to your local sunday market and get it unlocked for 10/15 pounds...

cable yes, or maybe try different nuber.. let say not +1# but +7#, but for 7610b its very hard to find correct calculted codes, i dont know if anyone sucesseded yet.
