I think the problem is your sim card, did you buy it with a phone and is this sim card a credit top up type sim card ?

Bring it to a place like a car boot sale or some sort of market stalls, those type of places. I'm sure there is also a shop/store near you that unlocks Nokias.

Orange sometimes use two lock codes on their hand-sets, so be careful. If you have tried codes on the hand-set let me know, if not do this:

First of all make sure it's not unlocked already, so try a different sim in it.

If still locked leave the non Orange sim in the phone and try code 7 once.

Let me know what happens !

If it says "Can't Undo Restriction" on the phone now that means it's hard locked, so you will have to bring it to an unlocking store/shop to be cable/clip unlocked.

Well, you shouldn't worry too too much...you can't permalock it by entering the wrong codes 5 times. It just means that you'll have to pay someone to unlock for you by cable...which I had to do when I did the same thing you did. I tried calculating the code for you and found that one of the codes was similar except for the second number...if you're courageous, you can try it:

Good luck, and don't worry too much! I know a great place in Oakland, CA, you can send it if it does lockdown...they're only $20 and they're pretty fast!

hm... i tried all, starting from first one - no spaces - and none of them worked? i followed the instructions

Here is how to enter your code once you have it:
Power off phone and REMOVE SIM
Power phone back on without sim
Push #
Push * key 3 times (you will see p)
Push * key 4 times (you will see w)
Push * key 2 times (you will see a +)
Enter the 15 digit code
Push the * ket 2 times (you will see +)
Type the lock digit (this will typically be 7)
Push #
That's it - The phone should display "Phone restrictions off"
but still doesn't. help? hehe.

EDIT: BLAH! my friend re-did the steps and "cannot undo restriction" thing came up. does that mean i'm screwed? :confused: eeep. (i do not have cables/software if that's my last resort)

Well, I guess there goes his credibility...most likely, yes you'll need to unlock it by cable. I know a great website that can unlock it for you by cable through the mail...cellularpager.com. I used them once and they're great. All you need to do is send the phone to them (USPS I think would be cheapest) along with your info. They charge $20, which you can do by cash, money order, PayPal, etc. Shipping is free unless of course you want it back ASAP. If not, you can always try to find a technician/unlocker in your local area.
